About the initiative
A consortium working at the intersection of ecology, policy and practice.

Restore4Life is a research and demonstration initiative focused on nature-based solutions (NBS) for wetland restoration across Europe. Our work runs from the Sado Estuary in Portugal to the Lake Sevan basin in Armenia, spanning nine reference sites in nine countries.
We treat restoration as both an ecological and a societal process. The biophysical work — re-meandering streams, breaching dykes, restoring tidal flow, re-wetting peat — only succeeds when the political, legal and social conditions around it are properly understood.
The consortium publishes peer-reviewed science, open datasets, and decision-support tools for the wider community of practitioners and policymakers.
